MYTHS ABOUT ISRAELI OCCUPATION
Are the following true or false?
- Israel is occupying an area of land that rightfully belongs to the people of Palestine.
- Palestinians are living under occupation, under the auspice of the Israeli military.
- All the Palestinians want is the right to have their own country back.
- Israel took over land that belonged to others.
- It took this land in one or more acts of War - most notably the 1967 Six Day War. And it took this land at its inception in 1948.
- To make matters worse, Israel has been systematically allowing Israelis to set up "settlements" on Palestinian territory, thus displacing Palestinians and creating an impossible obstacle to the eventual creation of peace and a Palestinian State.
- Given this state of affairs, the Palestinians have reached a point of incredible desperation - so miserable and so desperate have they become that they must fight back - fight for their right to exist using the only methods left to them - terrorism.
- Young Palestinians would rather be dead than live under Israeli occupation. If there was another way of doing it, without a doubt they would do it.
